Kimbap Frenzy: If you can’t secure your frozen one get it at these local spots!

The latest viral trend on social media is the frozen Kimbap from Trader Joe’s. Every Trader Joe’s has exhausted its stock, and it appears that some locations won’t see a restock until October! The sheer convenience of microwaving or quick pan-frying of this item played an important role in its surge in popularity.

The Kimbap sold by Trader Joe’s is more vegetarian friendly, offering a mix of sauteed greens, crisp root vegetables and savory braised tofu as fillings. However, the world of Kimbap fillings is wonderfully diverse, with options ranging from simple vegetables to juicy grilled pork bellies. The possibilities are endless.

Kimbap, traditionally, is known for its complex and time-consuming preparation, making it a dish often regarded as challenging. Creating a Kimbap involves several steps: first, the fillings are individually prepared and cooked. Then, with great care, you layer each component onto a sheet of seaweed and rice, before you cautiously roll everything together into the final product.

If all this talk of Kimbap is making you crave some but your local Trader Joe’s is sold out, here are some local spots that sell non-frozen, freshly made Kimbap.
